A Brand new type of Reservation!!!!

There is a high possibility that you might have missed this news, considering it under the “OBC reservation” category, though it made to the main page of quite a few newspapers. But the government lead HRD ministry has successfully implemented appointment of Faculty at all the IITs under the OBC reservation....

Well, does the government want an OBC faculty to teach the students who will get admissions under the OBC quota????? If the answer is a yes, then there is no other discriminatory organization greater than the UPA in this country or anywhere in this world. But i know it better, it is surely not that. It is another attempt to woo the votes of OBC common man, keeping the approaching elections in mind.

What i would like to do is ask the candidate who is appointed under the scheme to teach, whether he believes that it is right to get the honour of teaching at the IIT, just because he belongs to some category of people and not because of his talent? Does (s)he think that his/her appointment is rightly deserved just because he has been certified that his caste or class has remained backward? And does he believe that making such laws, the government is actually aiming at Development of the certified people or their personal gain.

I do realise that there are many people who did not receive equal opportunities due to their location or caste in the past. but does this person whose father has stayed in Mumbai for the last 20 years or so, served in the government office, with a handsome pay, deserve a reservation? Don’t you think, when he gets a seat under the category rule, he not only eats up an opportunity of an open category student, but is also denying opportunity to another student, who might be certified OBC, but has through hard work and lack of facilities scored lesser than him?

I cannot necessarily state that appointment of faculties with their caste into consideration, will deteriorate the standard of our IIT s but then, what guarantee it will maintain it at status quo? What guarantee that this appointment might be of a person who dint deserve his engineering seat, or his masters or even Ph D. seat, but got through, just cause of his Caste Certificate? Then, does he deserve to be appointed as a Faculty? Can the HRD minister answer this question please!!!!
