Ind vs Eng 27-02-2011

After a long time today, I had a chance to watch the Indian team in a 50 over game. Although, I follow the team regularly, with the world Cup coming up, a lot of players were being rested while the others were being tested. The selectors finally picked a bunch and threw them in the ring.... where they face fierce competition while carrying the load of the nation's expectations... The World Cup began a few days ago in Dhaka. Before today's match, India were sitting on a win against neighbours, Bangladesh. Not a comprehensive win, but a a winning start to the campaign never the less. After the Eden Garden's inability to host this match, the match was moved to Bangalore, where India had won their warm-up game against Australia, thanks to the spinners in the team. The team selection seemed fair in the afternoon, when Piyush Chawla was selected in front of our dear Sreesanth. Sachin started slowly while Sehwag attacked the English bowlers. But soon he got out and Gambhir played

Things I don’t like about the IPL

The stage is set and from the beginning of this weekend, we will all be waiting for the BIGGEST match of the tournament, THE FINALS between MI and CSK. Because anyone hardly reads what I write, I chose the IPL since it is the perfect attention grabber for all of us. But before I go on rambling about what I don’t like about it, let me tell you what IPL 3.0 has given us. First and foremost, it has given us an excellent opportunity to see Sachin in his prime form after his 200 at Gwalior. Undoubtedly, like single malt whiskey, Sachin is at his best after 20 years. For me, he has redefined batting in T20 cricket. Every time MI has played this season, I have watched the match at least till ‘The Master’ has been at the crease. He, with a little help of Jacques Kallis, has proven that timing the ball is sweeter than any slog that travels the distance. Besides, it does get you the runs. Secondly, the so-called batsman’s game, has manifold increased the intelligence of the bowlers. The differen

Act of Shame!!!

I followed almost the whole of the trust vote.... The PM moving it, Pranab Mukherjee s speech, LK Advani s , Shahnawaz Hussain s, then Rahul Gandhi s Today, even Lalu s sppech.... and listening to the media, the whole deal seemed to be inclining in the favor of the deal. I strongly believed that BJP s refusal to the deal was just cause they thought that since they initiated the process, they very well deserved to end it as well, and not let Congress take the credit for their hard work. Advani s speech where he mentioned renegotiating the deal in a way confirmed my beliefs, and i was pretty happy that the deal would go through. Then came the claims of certain BSP MP s saying that they were threatened or indirectly bribed by saying “Mayawati “ could get a clean chit, and all that and our dear Speaker did take that into consideration. But the moment MOney was displayed at the floor of the House, just to prove a point, the faith in democracy starts to take a nose dive and India

You Can't Lose what You Never Had!!!

It is a little challenging to leave what you have in hand and run after something, which might be look like a better prospect or sometimes, even your Long cherished dream. True, Job hopping is a new wave in the country today. People leave what they have been doing for years or months to do something, they really wanna do, or a better prospect at a competing company, but is it really that easy for a sportsman, and especially if you have the potential to be the "Best Player of the year". This is the confusing sight of None other than, Cristiano Ronaldo. A die hard Manchester United Fan, I could never believe that David Beckham, was leaving the club a few years ago, to join the Famous Real Madrid. But as a kid then, what attracted me even more was the 40 million pound transfer of the footballing great. I followed Real Madrid after that to see David play..... and wish he could. Fabio Cappello's distinction could be seen soon after. Though his first goal made news, Beckham wa
